Bottnaryd Meet, Sweden

Nick Petersen

Bottnaryd is a little place in Småland in Sweden that actually puts on an International Throwing Meet every year. This year five athletes from our group competed.

Axel Härstedt threw 54.51m in the Discus and got his best meet of the year. Axel is doing better and was 49cm away from the qualification mark for the European under 23 meet. Axel has had 53.05,53.14 and 54.51 in the last three meets so things are on the right way considering his PR since 2007, 56.14m. He should get that soon.

Navdeep Dhaliwal had 49.18m in a meet that she was affected by a little groin pain. So for Nav it was ok to have the fourth best meet of the outdoor season not feeling fresh and be bothered by this. We still think it is not serious so Nav has a possibility to throw well in two weeks in the UK Championships. Her training is going well.

Raigo Toompuu won the Shot with a throw of 19.04m. With high expectations he did not deliver as he wanted after a very good meet three days earlier and a result of 19.79m. Raigo never got the technique to work in Bottnaryd. But his lowest level is getting higher and that is good.

Kim Christensen has been having problems lately after his good PR two weeks ago. No mark last week in Sarajevo and now only 18.26m. Kim had one of these very bad days and I believe it is not here for too long as Kim competes usually well.

Nick Petersen that has not been competing much due to his hand injury did well. 17.96m is fine in relation to that we were just testing the hand and Nick was very careful with it. His footwork was good but he needed more lift to go over 18.50m but it will come soon as he has been throwing over 19m in practice. Some big throws will come from Nick soon.
