Good friends from Great Britain come by
Gary Howe my friend from Great Britain that came by two years ago and spend some time with us came again in the beginning of July to Växjö. This time he brought his daughter Georgina Howe with him as well as her friend Megan Thomas as well as a fellow coach Craig Bloomfield.
The group spent five days in Växjö and the girls threw discus in the morning and hammer in the evening as well as they did some weight lifting as well. The weather was great during the time and we had a good time.
It was not only training for Megan and Georgina even it was for sure a double load in relation to what they are used to. We had a barbecue at our home once for the group as well as some of the GT group that were training there at the same time. That was nice and with lots of food we played some games together and had fun. My kids loved it as well.
Then the last day my wife Anna took te group on a sightseeing trip around Växjö with the Arrhenius brothers Leif and Niklas and they looked at some castles etc. in the area.
It is always nice when you can meet youngsters from other countries that want to get better and enthusiastic parents and coaches that burn for what they do. Gary Howe is actually a former long distance runner and is working hard now for getting these young girls to throw. Craig Bloomfield is a former thrower and both of these guys put a lot of effort in to get better on what they do. I appreciate their love for the sport and I look up to them spending their leisure time on throwing.
Georgina and Megan work hard and have both talent to go farther in the sport and I wish them all the best. It was fun working with you and good luck for the remainder of the season.
