Another great camp is coming to an end

Our 4th trainingcamp for the 2011-2012 is about to be over here in Provo, Utah and it has been a huge success.

The local guys Niklas and Leif have gotten some good training together with the other guys.

Niklas is doing super in the discus and has it down totally what he needs to do and his first indoor meet shows that also, 63.01m indoors is outstanding. Then he got 19.74m already under his belt in the shot that is also fine and I am more than sure about that there is much more coming there soon. Niklas is very well trained now and all his lifts are great. He has also been doing lots of cardio work and running and is generally in great shape. It is also fun to see him coaching as he is now the throwing coach for the women’s team here at BYU.

Leif is developing very well physically doing more reps in the weight room than ever before as well as lots of cardio work that gets him into better physical shape than before. In between his technique has been very good in both events and as he threw yesterday after our drill session I really like his discus technique. His first meet in the shot was great 19.55m but a little disappointment in the Viking Meet as he expected too much. Generally his shot put technique has been good lately but it broke down a little in the meet. But Leif is super talented and has the future in front of him in both shot and discus and if he keeps healthy and gets international experiences then all doors are open for him.

As said before Kim is awesome. He only got 19.62m in the Viking Meet but had many throws farther and also in practice. He just needs a couple of more meets and he will hit 20m plus. Kim is stronger than ever and bigger than ever and he is also developing mentally. His nearest future is very exciting and Kim could be stepping into another level in the shot soon. With more international meets he should get closer to the world leaders in the event and get closer to 21m than 20m. That could easily happen this year and if not then within two years or so, Kim can put the shot much farther.

Nick hit some things in his technique here that could make a difference for him and he really needs to correct his technique. Physically Nick has been exploding on this camp with great Squats, Push Press, Clean and Bench. The strength will get much better this year and this is only the beginning. His meet over here was nothing special but 18.38m is till his best start ever. We take every step forward that Nick can take and he will throw a PR outdoors and get over 19.50m. The road has been long for him since his injury in 2010 and sickness in 2011 but now it feels he is back and getting better.

John Bowman and Eric Bildstein came here for few days and did outstanding. We worked mostly on technique and both athletes made big improvement and can go home with a better picture of their technique. Yesterday we had two throwing sessions and they were awesome for both of them. I know that they will do well in 2012 and they deserve it after all the hard work they have put in for the last few years.

Eric left this morning and I and John leave tomorrow morning. Kim and Nick come over to Europe on Wednesday.

I want to thank the guys for the training camp, the BYU staff for all the support and help and the Arrhenius family for their great hospitality and friendship.
